Maresa was created to celebrate Colombian craftsmanship with the recognition, refinement, and appreciation it deserves.
Founded in Britain by Colombian entrepreneur Johanna Ospina, Maresa is a luxury lifestyle brand dedicated to showcasing handcrafted accessories created by skilled artisans across Colombia. Every collection reflects a commitment to timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and the rich cultural heritage that inspires each piece.
Growing up in Colombia, Johanna developed a deep appreciation for the country's extraordinary artisan traditions. Throughout her career in digital marketing and eCommerce, she recognised that many exceptional handcrafted products were often presented as holiday souvenirs rather than beautifully crafted pieces worthy of a discerning international audience.
Maresa was born to help change that perception.
Among Colombia's most remarkable artisan traditions is the work of the Wayuu people, an Indigenous community from the La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia. For generations, Wayuu artisans have passed down the art of crochet weaving from one generation to the next, creating intricate geometric patterns inspired by nature, their surroundings, and their ancestral traditions. Every design tells a story, making each handcrafted piece a unique expression of culture, identity, and craftsmanship.
Inspired by this remarkable heritage, Maresa collaborates with talented Colombian artisans to create collections that honour traditional techniques while embracing refined contemporary design. Alongside our Wayuu crochet collections, we also work with artisans specialising in hand embroidery, tapestry techniques and decorative embellishments, celebrating the richness and diversity of Colombian craftsmanship across every collection.
